Secondary fermentation is the process in which clearing your brew, dry hopping, and final additions take place. Secondary fermentation is actually a bit of a misnomer in beer brewing—as by now, a majority of the fermentation has already taken place. It is at the point in the process that one is able to allow their brew to settle, clear out, and age away from the first thick layer of trub at the bottom of the primary fermentation vessel. You can also dry hop, add flavorings or spices, etc. at this point to further craft your brews final flavor.
