Launched in 2012. Identified trends in craft beer and voids in Ottawa beer scene. At inception, BTP brewed approx. 3600L of beer/month; creating 100s of recipes.They now brew in excess of 50,000L/month. Company grew on bootstrap budget; Currently selling at over 100 bars/restaurants, 70 LCBOs in Ontario, 40 grocery stores. From 0 to 20 full-time staff; including employees from Live Work Play and a weekly supporter at Parkdale Food Centre 40 under 40 recipient in 2018 – Ottawa Business Journal
Our plan consists of four pieces: equipment needed to increase capacity; buildout to a portion of the brewery that will house the new tanks; cashflow needed to build out our staff to manage the growth; and working capital to cover the practical demands of meeting our growth targets. A major takeaway; beer is a volume game. It’s difficult to make real money in this business by brewing small volumes. Over next two years, we intend to continue to push production into Kingston and Toronto, and so on
