This week I visited Aaron Lawrence, founder and part-owner of London Brewing Co-operative in London, Ontario’s East Village. I put down my coffee mug and grabbed a pint as I talk to Aaron about how they make their beer, how involved and connected they are to their suppliers, how they involve the community in production and talk about events they hold at their location.
London Brewing Co-operative is a little different from most breweries, as it is a worker owned co-operative brewery. This means that anyone who works inside the brewery also has the opportunity to own the brewery. London Brewing Co-operative also focuses on local, from using locally made ingredients and having local people working at the brewery where everything is traceable from what is made within Ontario. Lastly everything is organic and through the use of organic ingredients they help to make a sustainable brewery in the London, Ontario area. This is a brewery with an ethical backbone to everything that they do from day to day operations all the way thinking about the future with the ingredients that they use.
You need to seriously try this organic, locally made, craft beer! With 12 taps running, you can always come on by for a flight of beer and if you like what you taste there is plenty of beer to bring home. They also have an old school pinball machine, so bring your quarters!
