Martin’s ‘Pub’: Brewing beer at home

Josh Martin is a behavioral disorder teaching assistant for Urbana School District 116 by day, a student in Millikin University’s teacher certification program that meets at Parkland College by night and a homebrewer in his basement and garage whenever he can find the time. He began brewing two years ago and immediately fell in love with it, brewing about 70 batches of beer in his first year. He has amassed professional-quality equipment and supplies with the help of friends, and even grows his own hops along the side of his home. His wife, Teresa Martin, is supportive of his passion for brewing and sacrifices time and money to help him toward his dream of opening a brewery and pub.
