Pickett’s American Craft Ginger Beer Review

Today we’re looking at Pickett’s American Craft Ginger Beer because we’ll be doing a Suffering Bastard cocktail. We’ll need a good spicy ginger beer for that tiki drink so this seems right up our lane.

Pickett’s sent us their product to taste test to potentially carry in our online store. We took the opportunity to both taste test it by itself and, in our next video, produce three cocktails with it including the dead bastard, dying bastard, and suffering bastard.

Many tiki drinks call for ginger beer to spice up the tiki drink recipe. You’ll also find other rum based cocktails like the Dark ‘n Stormy which can utilize ginger beer.

One of the great concepts about a ginger beer syrup concentrate is that we don’t have to store it with carbonation. We can use our own carbonated water to save storage space, shipping costs and other problematic bubbly design issues.

Pickett’s offers both a medium spice and a hot ‘n spicy variation. We prefer the hot ‘n spicy. But, we’re hot ‘n spicy guys!

  1. Where I live the availability of spicy ginger beer is not that great, a few years back I could only find the spicy kind at oriental markets and specialty organic food stores but the grocery stores have now started to stock Fever Tree which is great, but tad expensive. So… I've been making my own ginger syrup for good while to make ginger beer with, just add soda water and a dash of lime. 😉

  2. Ooh, I love a nice spicy ginger beer. This looks great. We made our own ginger ale out of concentrate (using a whole lot of sugar) and it was great, but it did take a long time to make just enough for one bottle.

  3. Wish I had this. It could have saved me a lot of money.

  4. I'm with you I like a spicy ginger beer….. do u sell that brand at AwesomeDrinks.com ?
